“Our journey began with a simple realization: the freshest coffee comes straight from the origin”
Our Story
Hi! My name is Eduardo Umaña.
I am a coffee entrepreneur from Colombia. I was inspired to start Origin Roasted because I simply couldn’t find any coffee in the U.S. that matched the taste of the coffee I purchased back home. The difference? Specialty coffee in producing countries is roasted while still freshly harvested, making a big difference in aroma and taste.
That revelation inspired Origin Roasted, our groundbreaking venture that's reshaping the coffee industry by roasting recently harvested coffee right at the origin, ensuring a fresher and fairer cup for all.

Mauricio was born and raised among coffee trees. His farm is located in the mountains of La Unión, Nariño. It’s small in size, but rich in family history.
Mauricio learned the craft from his parents: how to read the weather, recognize ripe cherries by touch, and walk the steep hillsides without slipping. Most importantly, he learned to respect the process needed to produce a clean coffee. When his parents passed the farm down to him, Mauricio didn’t just inherit land. He inherited discipline, tradition, and a commitment to maintain the quality that Nariño is known for.
Today, he cultivates traditional varieties such as Caturra and Castillo. Every lot he produces reflects a lifetime in coffee, a small farm that sustains a family, and a regional tradition that continues through producers like him.

The Harvest Challenge
In the U.S., coffee marketing often emphasizes roast freshness. But what about freshness off harvest? At the origin we know this is equally important. See influencers taste-test freshly harvested coffee – the results might surprise you.
